Morris Vermaport operate from their offices in Chilwell, Nottingham and are a leading company in the installation, modernisation, service and repair of lifts. In November 2004 their IT Manager, Michael Fox, was looking at ways to improve the control over site security and to better monitor employee attendance.
After reviewing what was available in the market, Michael decided to buy a combined Smart Card Access Control and Time and Attendance system from Tensor because "Tensor did exactly what we wanted" . Asked why he went for Tensor over the competitors, Michael said "The WinTA system from Tensor looked very good and the price was right for us and our budget".
A Smart Card Ethernet based WinTA Lite and Access Lite system including an intercom to the front door was installed by Tensor in January 2005. There was a minor network connection issue with the hardware installation, but this was resolved very quickly. There were no problems with the installation of the software.
Michael Fox and the Financial Director were trained on the use of the system at the Tensor training centre in Hail Weston. "We thoroughly enjoyed the training and had a very productive day" was Michael's comments about the quality of the training.
Whilst Michael does not feel they yet use the WinTA system to it's full potential he is happy that they use it for staff attendance, control of overtime and monitoring of absences. Here, he particularly likes the Absence Planner. The Access Control side of the system limits access to the stock holding areas and stops unwanted people from coming into the offices.
Asked what he liked most about Tensor, Michael replied "WinTA is very simple to use for the staff and very user friendly" ' and the Tensor Smart Cards? -"No problems or faults with the cards whatsoever, they're great!"
Morris Vermaport have used the Tensor Helpdesk and their comment was "Good! All help needed has been sorted out over the phone with no need for an engineers visit."
Asked if he would recommend Tensor to other companies, Michael Fox exclaimed, "Yes! I definitely would and I have already done so" and summing up Tensor in a few words Michael concluded "The system runs smoothly and we have had no problems - in fact it virtually runs itself - we are glad we bought from Tensor".
