Absence monitoring systems are becoming vital to UK businesses
Many UK firms have complained about their workforce management and absence monitoring systems not being up-to-date and suitable for the needs of a modern workforce, figures from a recent Workforce Management Trends & Challenges survey have been able to reveal.
Out of the people participating in the survey, almost half (47%) of respondents indicated that they would prioritise absence in evaluating a new solution while just under half (44%) raised absence abuse as a top concern.
Firms also believe that real-time tracking could also empower managers to be more proactive in managing schedules and help with strategic workforce planning. In fact, more than half (55%) of organisations appear to agree that doing things in real time could help their business, citing a lack of real-time communication as a factor inhibiting their ability to best manage employee absence.
Yet workforce management is still largely a manual process. The three workforce management functions most commonly done on paper are staff scheduling and rostering (52%), labour analytics (41%) and time and attendance (36%), the survey found.
Tensor – an expert in the field of deploying absence monitoring systems that meet your company’s requirements
Tensor plc supplies an extensive range of solutions designed specifically to help employers thoroughly monitor and manage absence, with our flagship WinTA.NET integrated workforce management solution incorporating a dedicated Absence Planning and Entitlement Management feature.
Our comprehensive, yet user-friendly software comes pre-loaded with graphical calendar charts that provide a colourful way of viewing an individual’s or a department’s absence records.
Each employee can be allocated different entitlements for absence such as annual leave or allowed sickness. As absence is booked and taken, the remainder available for each entitlement is updated. Entitlement formulae are used to calculate more complex entitlements calculated on a rising scale based upon length of service.
WinTA.NET absence monitoring systems supply the relevant managers with information on employee’s absences through warning email notifications or via hardcopy reports. After that, the system would rapidly identify missing employees that are expected to be at work and then informs you via automatic email reporting reports distributed by email.
