CCTV digital footage helps to secure convictions
CCTV footage has helped convict a man who assaulted a soldier in a town centre incident. The attack on the veteran, who served in Afghanistan, took place in July 2008 outside the Walkabout bar in Wigan, Greater Manchester. Jurors were shown CCTV footage of Peter Lightfoot pushing Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall's head to the ground and striking him with a police helmet. Originally, police were called to the bar after L/Cpl Aspinall, who was drunk and off-duty, was thrown off the premises.
