Jobs will be lost as a result of the £14 billion St Athan national defence training academy being axed as part of defence cuts. First Minister Carwyn Jones, answering questions in the assembly from Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Kirsty Williams, said cutting the South Wales project was a "betrayal of the people of Wales," adding: "What is expensive is the seven years of work that we have put in here to working with the UK Government to the delivery of the defence training academy. It has been ripped out from underneath our feet — 4,000 jobs will be lost to Wales as a result."
