Two-thirds of Britons fully support CCTV as a crime-fighting tool, new survey reveals
An impressive two-thirds of Britons who participated in a survey regarding the widespread use of CCTV do not think CCTV affects their civil liberties, and 81 per cent stated they believe the use of cameras helps police fight crime.
The study, carried out by YouGov, questioned more than 6,000 adults in France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the UK, and, beside revealing a fairly good level of confidence in the concept of video monitoring, also uncovered the fact that, across Europe younger people had greater concern for CCTV’s effect on civil liberties, though this was found to be less pronounced in the UK.
