UK managers don’t do enough to motivate team performance, study suggests

More than half of UK workers believe that their managers don't do enough in order to motivate them, which leads to lower overall performance levels within teams, a brand new study by benefits provider Edenred has revealed.

According to a news report, the survey, involving 7,200 European employees, revealed that just 47% of UK workers believed their manager knows how to motivate team performance, while just over half (52%) said their manager knows how to motivate them to improve their performance.

Additionally, figures from the survey point out that only 27% of UK employees said they feel regularly fulfilled at work, while only 35% said they feel happy at work — incidentally, this is the lowest level of all the European countries surveyed.

Nevertheless, it's not all bad news, since figures also suggests that 52% of employees were satisfied with the recognition they had for their work, while most of respondents also rated managers highly for good business knowledge, support in tough situations and the ability to delegate. Additionally, three-quarters (75%) of workers said they were happy with the relationship with their manager.
