Companies avoid hiring young people to fill sales positions, study reveals
A new poll by National Sales Awards sponsor Silent Edge has provided some interesting insights into the causes of the growing gap between rising youth unemployment and the businesses struggling to fill positions.
Out of the 200 organizations that participated in the survey, only 44% of respondents currently employ 18-24 year olds, with just 32% of companies taking advantage of government apprenticeship funding.
These disappointing figures represent quite a surprise, especially since 49% of businesses are focusing on recruiting young sales talent and a large proportion of respondents advised that the recruitment of young people is a key area of focus – especially in sales.
Companies who do wish to address this issue and are willing to use this young talent pool should also implement extensive workforce management solutions, that will help them provide a superior level of support for these inexperienced workers, and this is specifically where Tensor plc can put its extensive experience to very good use.
