Most EU citizens support the use of biometrics, study reveals
The large majority of EU citizens fully support the use of biometrics-based solutions for criminal identification and for identity documents and passports, a new survey carried out by Toluna reveals.
According to this research report, 81 percent of respondents think biometrics for criminal identification is a good thing, and 69 percent agreed that they would support the use of biometrics in identity cards or passports.
Another interesting find was that, across Europe, 69 percent of respondent were also in favour of using biometrics as a form of access control for secure areas. Nevertheless, only 45 percent of citizens agreed they are in favour of the use of biometrics to replace PIN numbers for bank cards.
